Report Cards and Progress Reports
Report Cards are given three times per year. The report card is based on progress toward the grade level standards. Progress reports are sent home six (6) weeks before the end of the grading period to notify parents if their child is not meeting grade level standards and may receive an unsatisfactory grade unless improvement is shown. Students can receive the following marks:
“4” Exceeds Grade Level Standards
“3” Meets Grade Level Standards
“2” Approaching Grade Level Standards
“1” Below/Does Not Meet Grade Level Standards
“E” Excellent
“S” Satisfactory
“N” Needs Improvement

If your child has received a “1” or an “N” in any area, please arrange a parent conference with the teacher so that you may work together on that area of need.

Testing
Classroom assessments are conducted on an on-going basis in order to determine how well students are learning the concepts needed to meet grade level standards.  These tests include, but are not limited to the STAR reading inventory, unit tests, reading inventories, informal assessments and teacher-made tests.

Reading/Language Arts and Mathematics Tests
The reading/language arts and mathematics assessments are conducted in the classroom on an on-going basis in order to determine how well students are learning the concepts needed to meet grade level standards.  These tests include, but are not limited to, the STAR Reading Inventory, the DORA, and additional teacher-made tests.

District Testing
These assessments are used to determine whether students have met the standards for English Language Arts, Math, and as appropriate, English Language Development.  These include reading and writing benchmarks and end of unit  tests in math.

STAR (CST/CMA/CAPA)
The California Standards Tests are the state mandated norm-referenced tests for grades 2-6. Students take these tests in March (4th grade Writing only) and in May. Click here to view real questions released from actual STAR tests

CELDT
The California English Language Development Test (CELDT) is an annual test given to students who are English Language Learners (ELL).  Students in K and 1st grade are assessed on their listening and speaking skills, while students in grades 2-6 are assessed in listening and speaking, reading, and writing.  The CELDT test is administered in early fall and results are available to parents several months later.
